Alemtuzumab bij IgG afhankelijke CIDP patienten

Patienten met een chronische ontstekingsneuropathie, een CIDP, hebben van last van allerlei uitvalsverschijnselen, zoals zwakte aan de benen, en elke keer als ze dan een infuus met globuline, IgG, krijgen, knappen ze op. Ze moeten vaak en vrij veel IgG infusen krijgen om op de been te blijven.

Patienten die zo een IgG afhankelijke CIDP hadden, werden met een nieuw monoclonaal antilichaam behandeld, het alemtuzumab dat speciaal tegen het CD52 antigeen werkt, dat aanwezig is op de opppervlakte van lymphocytes en monocyten. ^[1] Dat hielp in die zin, dat de patienten veel minder vaak IgG infusen nodig hadden, en daarvan ook minder veel. IgG is de standaard behandeling voor CIDP. ^[2]

Alemtuzumab wordt ook wel gebruikt bij de behandeling van bijvoorbeeld aplastische anemie en transplantaties. ^[3]^[4]
