Extended release oxymorphone may help treating chronic neuropathic pain
Extended release oxymorphone may help treating chronic neuropathic pain due to a small pilot trial published during a congress.

In an abstract presented at the American Academy of Pain Medicine meeting in San Antonio it was suggested that an extended-release oxymorphone (brand name: Opana) could be a reasonable treatment option for cancer patients needing long-term neuropathic pain management.

The press release was based on a small study, sponsored by Endo Pharmaceuticals (owners of Opana) and the claim was that extended-release oxymorphone may be of some benefit for patients suffering from chronic neuropathic pain in cancer.

Further details were not given and we need the full data to able to understand whether indeed this formulation might be of some benefit.
